b'A Message from Caitlin Cucchiara Picou 03Alumnae Relations CoordinatorCOVID was a curve ball for the Alumnae Board and our regularly sched-uled events, but the Board came together and reimagined our events to be bigger and better. One of our favorite annual events is the Easter Egg Hunt. On a normal year, we would invite families to join us on campus for a massive Easter Egg Hunt along with face paint-ing, food and even the Easter Bunny. But this year, the board decided to build out pre-filled Easter Egg Baskets for drive-thru pickup with the Easter Bunny. We sold nearly 100 sets and raised over $2500 for the Hillary Lanaux Greve Scholarship Fund. Plus we partnered with James Samaritan to offer nearly 20 baskets as donations for children and case workers. The Eggstravaganza was so successful, we plan on keeping the basket-to-go along with the on-campus Easter Egg Hunt next year! Special thanks to Car-oline Barkerding Stedman for organizing the event, along with the Alumnae Board and other various alumnae who donated and volunteered. Covid restrictions forced us to push back Career Day, which turned out to be a true blessing. By the end of April, we were able to have the in-person Career Day we preferred. It is always more impactful for our speakers to talk with the girls in-person. While we couldnt host our keynote speaker in the gym with the entire school, we were able to give the girls four individual sessions of their choosing to really inspire and get the girls thinking about their futures. At the end of the year, we like to treat the seniors to a special breakfast and welcome them into the Alumnae Association. Typically, we would host the Senior Breakfast in the cafeteria prior to their grad-uation practice. This year, God gave us a picture perfect day to host a Chick-Fil-A picnic outside, under the oak trees. We gifted each girl with a custom face glitter made for the college they will be attending in the fall, along with a certificate for joining our Alumnae Association. We also welcomed them into our private Facebook and Instagram Alumnae pages. In addition to this, our Alumnae Board Member Meg Williams delivered over 20 yard signs from the Alumnae Board to the seniors as a surprise. Meg is a rockstar!Lastly, as things nearly returned to normal, we were able to host our annual Alumnae Brunch at La Provence, a year late. I am happy to say we totally sold out of tickets! It was a beautiful day of women from all ages coming together to share memories and stories. We honored our 2020 Alumna of the Year, Meredith Lyon Ramake, whose three granddaughters spoke of her wonderful contributions to the SSA Community. It was truly touching. We also honored the classes of 1970, 1971, 1995 and 1996. The Alum-nae Board is looking forward to an even bigger turnout next year. Special thanks to Lisa Mott Dugger for helping chair the event, along with the other Board members who dedicated their time and money to host the event.Covid might have changed our original plans, but God made everything better!
